Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that extension of up to six months is being given for construction work. The work to be done within the stipulated time has been extended for six months from the due date.

Nirmala Sitharaman said that after 25 March 2020, whoever has gone ahead for registration and construction will benefit for six months. The builders will also be given additional time to complete the house. All the States / UTs will be advised in this regard.

Also, in this budget Govt said, Up to five lakh tax exemption can be availed on home loans. It was announced in this budget that under Section 80EEA a rebate of 1.5 lakh on interest repayment of loan will be given separately if the price of the house is less than 45 lakhs. Apart from this, there is already a discount of 2 lakh on interest repayment under section 24B. Also, there is an exemption of up to Rs 1.5 lakh on the principal amount of a home loan under section 80C. The date of availing section 80EEA has also been extended in view of Corona. Earlier this scheme was till 31 March 2020, which has been increased to 31 March 2021.

Furthermore, the second thing is every builder has to complete their project within the 4 years. If the developer does not complete the project so the government will give a penalty. Also then the government will develop the project.
